(26.4.02) Fantastic news! Ben & Chloe will be taken home by their new owner tomorrow!(13.4.02 )Ben & Chloe are a pair of 6 year old grey & white lhasa apsos who have been together a long time & have enjoyed each other's company since puppies, although they are not related. They sleep together in the same bed. Lovely characters & well adjusted. Their original owner died, 4.5 months ago they were taken on by an elderly couple who couldn't afford Ben's life-time medication. Both dogs are used to car travel & being in kennels & with other dogs.Chloe is a very pretty, lively, outgoing, 6 year old girl who has been neutered.Ben is a very affectionate boy who has also been neutered. However, he has Cushings Disease, (an overproduction of Cortisone caused by a benign tumour on his pituitary gland) but with daily medication of 1 tablet is easily controlled. However, his medication is expensive (currently £14 per week + VAT as tablets are £2 each) and he needs to be on it for the rest of his life. He also requires checkups every 3 months to test whether 1 tablet daily is enough. The likelihood is that the requirement may go up, it won't go down. Potential owners should think seriously about the financial aspect of adopting Ben. Ben is currently a bit chubby, due to the fact that he hasn't been on medication for long & hasn't had much exercise due to living with elderly owners. He was matted, so his coat has been clipped short, & some bald patches are showing. This will clear up now he is on medication.
